supported and played by kasey taylor, emerson, mos, joel armstrong, deerk hollaender, stephan hinz, dj three,.... solead are respected for the great diversity of their music and have already caught the attention of respected labels from around the world. with releases on john digweed s compilation transitions 3 and vitalic s label citizen. the serpent ep combines minimal techno grooves with abstract jazzy melodies. remixes by highly acclaimed boris brejcha aka anna (harthouse) and deepchild (om, freerange) gives a great, cross genre diversity to this release. techno, house, minimal and funk in one package

yore returns with a true dream team split ep, pairing yore label head andy vaz with sistrum manager patrice scott. vaz is up first with a beautiful slice of old-school funk and soul within a deep house formula, >back to square one< that has a whole lot more in common with isaac hayes and james brown than with juan atkins or any other techno icon. accompanied by a wah-wah guitar figure and claps, a bullet-proof bass line leads a nine-minute charge thats quickly bolstered by a slinkily swinging drum groove. creamy synth chords and blazing horns intermittently spill over the pulsating mix and then vanish, leaving space for the rhythm to intensify and the track to grow ever more euphoric (and even, towards its close, a bit acidy). a true mission into both funk and house, which again showcases vazs ultimate diversity as an outstanding producer. scott titled his second sistrum release beyond deep and the title might just as easily apply to the b-side >aztecal< where the detroit producer slathers shimmering stabs and congealing streams over a thudding kick drum and flickering percussive detail. while vazs cut draws inspiration from the timeless traditions of decades past, scotts looks towards the future when its gleaming shuttle lifts off in pursuit of distant galaxies.

another excellent release by mudd known for his releases on rong, bear entertainment and idjut boys’s noid label. two sweet tracks that goes out in a limited vinyl run on his own claremont 56 label. scaffold is an athmospheric piece of nu-disco that make you float away on the dance floor when the sun is rising above the sea. flip side is a slow paced disco funk track that sounds warm and gentle. perfect tracks to start/end the day with! limited copies as usual

part 2 featuring canadian house stalwart hatiras & new deadmau5 alike addy

in 2007 recyver dogs released their second ep hotel brenzone, which featured two tracks from their momentous live set dvd filmed in the basement of the original tresor club. one of these tracks bud sees a burning re-working here on a1 by chicago techno legend dj rush and the result is a sneering, penetrating work of percussive action. this is either searing high-hat mastery or fiery cymbalic wizardry however you choose to reflect on the brew.

daniel mehlhart steps up to the plate for kindischs seventeenth release, origami - an exquisitely deep, languid house jam laced with strung-out, processed spanish guitar and gently euphoric xylophone arpeggios. >origami< is languid, yes, but not exactly laid-back: its held up and propelled forward by a gently vibrating lattice of kickdrum and snare hits, through which a dubby, molten bassline and taut, time-keeping chords dreamily but determinedly flow. the perfect soundtrack to the mixed pace of summers long days and even longer nights. mehlhart harks back to his acclaimed past releases on karmarouge and neutonmusic for >alles klar alles easy<, which sees brushed drum and shaker sounds edited into a quietly explosive techno work-out with serious swing. >fata morgana< begins in a more linear, four-to-the-floor style, but those percussive flourishes quickly accrue into something more strange, and then out of the ether comes an entrancing, south american-style chorus line. the voices mingle imperceptibly with woodblock strikes and caustic snares, injecting the techno dna >fata morgana< with a sick and psychedelic voodoo funk. with this 12inch kindisch once again proves itself to be a preeminent stable for experimental, expressive dancefloor music, and daniel mehlhart affirms his status as one of our most daring and capable producers

trouble in paradise is a pure testament to the roots of r&b flavored vocal house. in the danism vox the sweet simplicity of the standard boom & clap intro is well paced and leads into the funky bassline, while the enchanting chords set the stage for the outstanding vocal performance of sean williams. his r&b flavored, distinctive phrasing is mildly reminiscent of john legend, however, seans earthy quality shines through. the passionate & insistent lyrical melody never fails, climaxing into panoramic bridges while the memorable bah de dahsintermittently dot the production. its texture is a reminder of sophisticated nyc funk a la early 80s prelude/west end/sam records with a modern house feel. djs, if you want the ladies on the floor, trouble in paradise (danism vox) is the one to drop!
